Olga Lopez-Hill was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in Worcester and New York City. Today, she works as a family counselor for the Worcester Community Action Council, a resource center for families. Through the years, Olga has worked with children in the Piedmont neighborhood of Worcester where she has organized various projects including the construction of a basketball court and a community garden. Olga is married now, however she raised two children as a single mother while attending QCC. After she graduated in 1990, she returned to QCC where she worked for over 25 years as Coordinator of Admissions and Public Relations.
During her time at QCC, Olga was an advocate for students and worked to inspire them to further their education. Ms. Lopez-Hill continues to be a dedicated community leader and role model for those who are willing to work hard to improve their lives.
The $600 scholarship will be presented at the annual HACE (Hispanics Achieving and Celebrating Excellence) event on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021. The scholarship is available to QCC students who plan to continue their education at QCC as well as those who are working to transfer to another educational institution.
To apply, you must submit an essay discussing how your activities and future goals reflect the importance of education, diversity and service to your community. Please limit your response to two pages, and include your name, address, e-mail, and telephone number with your submission. (Previous OLH award recipients are not eligible.)
We also ask our faculty and staff members to encourage students to apply. Letters of support from faculty and staff members may accompany the application but are not the only requirement for submission. Please help us spread the word about this wonderful opportunity for a QCC student!
